Job summary

Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown is seeking a Cook 2 (Garde Manger) to support our culinary team in downtown Houston. You will help with salads, cold foods, garnishes and other menu items while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Under senior culinary guidance, you will contribute to banquet services as needed and develop your culinary skills. Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• One to two years of previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively work a station under supervision and assist across multiple kitchen areas as needed.
• Culinary degree or related hotel culinary experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of basic culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry moderate weight, up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items in accordance with Hyatt and culinary standards.
• Support daily Garde Manger operations, including the preparation of salads, cold foods, garnishes, and other menu items.
• Assist banquet culinary operations as needed to support events and business levels.
• Follow established recipes, production sheets, and portion control standards.
• Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards for all food products.
• Properly store, label, rotate, and handle food products in accordance with food safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Support multiple kitchen stations as operational needs require.
• Work collaboratively with culinary and food and beverage teams to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
• Uphold sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards in all areas of kitchen operations.
• Promote Hyatt's Culture of Care through teamwork, professionalism, and attention to detail.
