Job summary

Loews Arlington Hotel is seeking a mid-level Garde Manger Cook II to prepare cold dishes, salads, and buffet platters for events and outlets in our busy kitchen. You will support a senior garde manger and help train entry-level cooks while maintaining high standards of presentation.

Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years in a kitchen, strong knife skills, and the ability to work under pressure. This on-site role offers growth in a premier hospitality environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred.
• 1–2 years of kitchen experience, preferably in Garde Manger or banquet prep.
• Good knife skills and attention to presentation.
• Understanding of cold food handling and sanitation.
• Able to lift 40–50 lbs and stand long shifts.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of cold items including salads, dressings, cold hors d'oeuvres, and sandwich components.
• Follow standardized recipes for consistent portioning and presentation.
• Set up and break down of the Garde Manger station for daily service and events.
• Support buffet and banquet prep with decorative trays and chilled food displays.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of station and walk-in coolers.
• Ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of all ingredients and prepared items.
• Assist Cook I with more complex or decorative projects when needed.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation policies.
• Regular attendance in conformance with standards.
• May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
• Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
