Job summary

LAZ Parking in Columbus, OH is seeking a Garage Porter/Custodian to maintain garages and surface lots, greet customers by name, and assist with vehicle support while coordinating with teams across the organization.

You will perform general maintenance, assist with snow removal, operate cleaning equipment, and participate in cashiering as needed, delivering exceptional service and upholding LAZ's standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean garages and surface lots on a daily basis.
• Perform general maintenance of the garage and lots—sweeping, wiping surfaces, emptying trash, painting, etc.
• Assist with snow removal and winter upkeep as applicable.
• Operate garage/floor sweeper and scrubber to keep floors clean and safe.
• Complete daily maintenance checklist efficiently and on time.
• Greet customers by name, respond promptly to inquiries and resolve issues with a caring attitude.
• Provide vehicle assistance to customers in garages and lots.
• Assist customers via intercom, in lobbies, lanes, and parking office.
• Promote premier customer satisfaction with a helpful, can-do attitude.
• Assist with cashiering functions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Spirit Of The Position

The Garage Porter / Custodian is responsible for ensuring garages and surface lots are maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. Interface with customers, handle disputes, provide effective communication between departments, co-workers, customers and clients.

What does a day in the life of a LAZ Garage Porter/Custodian look like?

• Ensure garages and surface lots are maintained and cleaned on a daily basis.
• Responsible for general maintenance of the garage and surface lots – sweeping, wiping down surfaces and equipment, emptying trash, picking up trash, changing light bulbs, painting etc.
• Assist with snow removal and management of winter upkeep (managing sidewalks and garages) if applicable.
• May need to operate garage/floor sweeper and scrubber to ensure floors are clean and safe.
• Responsible for ensuring all daily duties on maintenance checklist are completed efficiently and timely.
• Greet customers using name, be responsive and timely with correspondence and problem resolution, and display a caring attitude, develop a rapport with the customer base.
• Provide vehicle assistance to customers in garages and surface lots.
• Assist customers as needed over intercom system, in lobbies, lanes, and in the parking office.
• Promote good customer relations by consistently providing premier customer satisfaction with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
• Assist with cashiering functions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

• Willingness to work in the elements – heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
• Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50lbs.

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
