Job summary

A1 Garage is seeking a hands-on garage door technician in Grand Rapids, MI. You will diagnose problems, repair and install hardware, and talk with homeowners as the trusted expert. This is a commission-based role where earnings grow with successful sales closures.

You must be able to lift 75 lbs, work in extreme conditions, and pass background checks. Training paths and a clear career trajectory are offered.

Qualifications

• 21+, valid license, 3+ years driving record.
• Can lift 75 lbs, bend, climb, kneel, work in extreme temps.
• Some hands-on mechanical experience or comfort with tools.
• Willingness to undergo a criminal background check, drug test, and driving record.
• Basic tech comfort (apps, tablets); reading/math for measurements and payments.
• No sales experience required, we teach that.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on work diagnosing and repairing garage door mechanisms.
• Talk to homeowners professionally; build trust and explain repairs.
• Repair and install springs, cables, rollers, openers, motors daily.
• Sell services; commission-based pay with earnings tied to successful closes.
