Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Petersburg, VA seeks a General Shop Help to support galvanizing operations. Responsibilities include preparing products, hanging parts, staging tubular items, and assisting with cleanliness and safety in the plant.

Ideal candidates will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, read measurements, use hand tools, and adapt to different departments as needed while upholding a high safety standard.

Qualifications

• Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to learn and apply training.
• Be flexible within the plant (changing departments as needed).
• Able to use hand tools and/or power tools.
• Able to read a tape measure accurately.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work in an outdoor environment.
• Communicate problems/needs to lead or supervisor.
• Demonstrate passion and integrity to excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist production by preparing products and materials for galvanizing.
• Handle hanging parts, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.
• Clean and finish products using hand/power tools; inspect for unsafe tools or items; assist in housekeeping.
• Provide back-up on Forklift or Cranes and support other areas as needed.
