Job summary
Valmont Industries, Inc. is hiring a General Shop Help in Houston, TX to assist with galvanizing prep and material handling in the Coatings Division. You will hang angles, stage tubular products, and prepare parts for galvanizing, working 1st or 2nd shift.
Duties include inspecting fixtures, wiring parts to racks, and moving steel safely in an open-air plant. The role requires basic reading of instructions, tape measure use, and safety awareness; prior galvanizing or heavy equipment experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Six months of galvanizing experience preferred.
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow instructions.
- Experience with hand tools, gauges and basic power tools beneficial.
- Certification to operate heavy equipment including forklift is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Inspect production fixtures, chains and hooks for safe use.
- Hand wire parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing.
- Rack and move steel bundles and heavy components safely.
- Prepare and clean steel for galvanizing using tools and air equipment.
- Assist with plant cleanup and maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow all safety policies and report issues to supervision.
