Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and organize incoming mail and packages from USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and other carriers.
  • Process incoming packages by accurately entering information into mailroom tracking systems.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and campus departments with package pickup, mail questions, and general mailroom services.
  • Verify identification and follow established procedures for secure package release.
  • Organize and maintain package storage areas to ensure accurate and efficient retrieval.
  • Deliver mail and packages to designated campus departments as needed.
  • Assist with outgoing mail and shipping services, including preparing packages, labels, and shipping materials.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive mail appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
  • Follow mailroom procedures, safety guidelines, and university policies.
  • Provide professional and friendly customer service to students, employees, and campus visitors.
  • Assist with increased mail and package volume during orientation, move-in, and the beginning and end of academic terms.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Wage Rate: $16.80 per hour
Length of Employment: Academic year position (August–May), with potential summer employment based on department needs and student availability.

Position Summary

The Mailroom Student Employee provides essential support for daily mailroom operations at Pacific University's Forest Grove campus. This position assists with receiving, processing, organizing, and distributing mail and packages for students, faculty, staff, and university departments.

Student employees play an important role in ensuring accurate package handling, maintaining an organized mailroom environment, and providing excellent customer service to the Pacific University community. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
