Job summary

South Georgia Technical College seeks a FWS-Library Assistant to support patrons, help locate library materials, operate library computers, and assist with accessing online resources. You will check in and check out items, reshelve materials, and help maintain an orderly, welcoming study space for students and staff.

The position is part-time at $10 per hour for a 20-hour work week. Eligibility requires current enrollment at SGTC and eligibility for the Federal Work-Study program; prior library

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and eligible for the Federal Work-Study program.
  • Strong customer service and friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Prior library experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Shelve returned materials accurately and maintain an organized collection.
  • Assist with processing new library materials, including labeling and covering.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and data entry.
  • Maintain the neatness and orderliness of library common areas.
  • Assist with special projects and events as assigned by library staff.
  • Provide basic technical support for library computers and printers.
