Job summary

Pacific University in Forest Grove is seeking a student worker for the Tran Library front desk to provide first-line customer service and handle basic library materials tasks.

This in-person role involves shelving, helping users, checking materials in/out, and guiding patrons both on shelves and via the library website. Availability for early mornings, late evenings, and weekends is helpful.

FWS – Circulation Library Assistant I

Tran Library (Forest Grove Campus)

Purpose of position: First line of customer service for users of the Tran Library, and basic library materials handling.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: This is an i n-person front desk customer service position. Duties include staffing the Library Help Desk and assisting users of the library, including: answering the library main phone line; shelving books and other library materials; finding materials to send to other libraries, processing materials returning from other libraries, and checking materials in/out. Also, helping students, staff, faculty and community members find materials on the shelves, and on the library website, searching for misplaced items, answering questions and giving directions. Depending on shifts worked, you may assist with opening and/or closing the library. Occasional duties may include shifting materials, putting together book displays, basic troubleshooting of library technology (printers, wifi, scanners, copiers), and designing/creating fun buttons. Physical tasks will include pushing heavy book carts, reading, stooping, and repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.

Some early morning, late evening, and/or weekend availability, in addition to mid-day availability is very helpful. The more availability you have, the more likely it is that we will have work times that fit your schedule.

Wage rate: 16.80
