Service Corporation International is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical support and help with funeral operations. You will greet client families, assist with services, prepare documents, and handle office tasks with compassion and professionalism.

The role requires a high school diploma, prior customer service experience, and a valid driver’s license. Competitive benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
• High level of compassion and integrity; strong verbal and written communication; team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for services: floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and keepsakes; ensures proper care and storage.
• Prepares documents related to services and cremations as directed.
• Assists with respectful preparation of remains, dressing and lifting when allowed by law.
• Performs office duties: phones, fax, computer, multi-line system, debit card, typewriter, postage meter, scale, stereo/video.
• Run errands for supplies and deliveries.
• Serves as usher; may park cars or handle transportation.
• Drives funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assists with visitations, memorials and funerals: set up, dressing, casket remains, flowers.
• Greet and assist client families entering the office.
• Accommodate family needs during service or visitation.
