Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support for funeral operations. You will greet families, answer questions, assist on services and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, customer service experience, and a valid driver’s license, with duties including driving and assisting during visitations and services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases; ability and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for services by arranging floral items, chairs, caskets, and keepsakes.
• Prepare service documents related to funerals and cremations.
• Assist with respectful preparation of remains, including dressing and lifting.
• Perform office duties: phones, fax, computer, multiline system, debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter, scale and stereo/video system.
• Run errands for supplies and deliveries.
• Serve as usher and assist with parking or transportation as needed.
• Drive funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups.
• Ensure refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assist with visitations, memorials and services and related setups.
• Greet clients and provide information upon entering the office.
• Accommodate family needs during service or visitation.
• May wash/clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required.
