Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Technical Regulatory Compliance Engineering Specialist to contribute to safety and regulatory compliance across product development. You will engage with cross-functional teams to implement control system safety measures and risk assessments for mobile machinery and systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and applying global standards to ensure safety and regulatory adherence throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of embedded control systems from engineering development or validation with mobile machines.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and experience with earth-moving machinery risk assessments.
• Experience with machinery functional safety standards such as ISO 19014 or ISO 13849.
• Effective communication, spatial and conceptual design skills, and understanding of customers’ needs and product application.
• Technical leadership and potential project management skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Provide Control System Functional Safety and Machinery Product Safety Risk Assessment support.
• Collaborate with enterprise regulatory compliance and safety teams.
• Work with peers and report to a Functional Safety and Risk Assessment manager.
• Develop and perform on complex projects or programs.
• Engage with other units, suppliers, customers, and teams; negotiate and build consensus.
• Keep up to date with regulatory compliance requirements and technology.
• Support engineering development and validation for mobile machinery and systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Apply SISTEMA for safety-related control system analysis.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align design with safety requirements.
• Evaluate production alternatives and contribute to continuous improvement.
