Job summary

Columbia Bank is hiring a Universal Banker I in Newark, NJ, to provide a full range of retail banking services and support branch goals. You will handle transactions, open accounts, explain products, and cross-sell services while delivering excellent customer care.

The role requires 1–2 years in retail or customer service, strong communication, and weekend availability. Training will be provided; bilingual Portuguese/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; BA in Accounting/Business/Finance preferred.
• 1–2 years of retail or customer-service experience required.
• Strong interpersonal, time management, organizational and PC skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Weekend work availability required.

Responsibilities

• Process all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers and more using on-line terminals.
• Open new deposit and checking accounts; explain products and assist with maintenance.
• Discuss financial needs with customers and cross-sell bank products and services.
• Prepare daily close procedures and end-of-day branch tasks.
• Maintain accurate customer and account records; manage safe deposit boxes and files.
• Refer clients to Wealth Management and other departments as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned; bilingual in Portuguese/Spanish preferred.
