Job summary

Columbia Bank in Clark, NJ is hiring a Universal Banker I for full-time, on-site work. The role provides a full range of banking services to retail customers, handling transactions, accounts, and customer inquiries.

The position requires 1–2 years of experience, strong communication and PC skills, and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Training is provided, with a schedule Monday through Friday and some Saturdays based on business needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required orBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
• 1-2 years of retail or customer service experience required.
• Interpersonal, time management, organizational and PC skills a must.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work weekends as needed or scheduled.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Candidates must attend mandatory training, continued employment contingent upon passing training classes.

Responsibilities

• Processes all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc., through Columbia Bank’s on-line terminals.
• Opens new deposit and checking accounts and explains products; handles deceased accounts and CD renegotiations.
• Discusses personal financial needs with customers and cross-sells products; responds to inquiries and resolves issues.
• Prepares daily proof sheet and assists with end-of-day closing procedures and branch documentation.
• Maintains accurate customer and account records; updates safe deposit and branch files.
• Makes referrals to Wealth Management and other departments as appropriate.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.
