Job summary

Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time, bi-weekly 72-hour schedule. Under RN supervision, you will assist in the operating room, prepare instruments and supplies, maintain sterile technique, and support the surgical team throughout procedures.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and patient-centered care, with benefits and shift differential opportunities. Prior surgical tech training and active BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required.
• Clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the surgical team to provide safe and effective intra-operative care
• Prepare the operating room with appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Demonstrate proficiency in sterile technique and surgical field maintenance
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping under RN direction
• Handle surgical instruments and equipment safely and efficiently
• Participate in surgical counts and documentation in accordance with policy
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment before, during, and after procedures
• Support age-specific patient care needs and demonstrate competency across patient populations
