Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time, bi-weekly 72-hour schedule. Under RN supervision, you will assist in the operating room, prepare instruments and supplies, maintain sterile technique, and support the surgical team throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required.
• Clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification required.

Surgical Technologist | Full Time | 72 Hours Bi‑Weekly

Rotation of Shifts

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist functions as an integral member of the surgical team, providing safe, efficient, and high‑quality intra‑operative care. This role supports surgeons and perioperative staff by preparing the operating room, ensuring proper instrumentation and supplies, and maintaining sterile technique throughout all phases of the procedure. The technologist demonstrates competency in age‑specific care and adheres to established clinical standards, safety protocols, and Meritus Health values.

This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented, team‑focused individual who thrives in a fast‑paced surgical environment and is committed to excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required

Experience

Clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred

Previous experience as a surgical technologist preferred

Licensure/Certification

Current BLS (CPR) certification in compliance with Meritus Health policy required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient‑care concepts

Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills

Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, fast‑paced surgical environment

Strong communication and organizational skills
