Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado seeks a Residential Advocate to protect residents' physical and emotional well-being and provide crisis intervention at Southwest Safehouse in Durango, CO.

You will supervise volunteers, conduct weekly client counseling, perform intake interviews, and maintain accurate case notes and logs. The role requires compassion, reliability, and adherence to ethics to help vulnerable populations regain self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related area.
• One year of human service experience.
• Preferred: CPR/AED Certification, experience with at-risk populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and ensure residents' safety within program guidelines.
• Supervise volunteers and coordinate shift coverage.
• Conduct primary intake interviews with new clients and document admissions decisions.
• Maintain accurate case notes, logs, and reports; participate in weekly staff meetings.
