Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time role (five days, 40 hours per week) offers an hourly rate of $25.00 and requires registration as a substitute with SubCentral and Iowa licensure.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction from lesson plans, maintaining routines, supervising students in multiple settings, and collaborating with staff to support learning and district initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be an approved substitute teacher registered through the SubCentral assignment system.
• Must hold a valid substitute authorization or teaching license through the State of Iowa to register with SubCentral.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction and maintain classroom routines in accordance with teacher-provided lesson plans.
• Manage classroom behavior and create a respectful and safe learning environment.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during school-related events.
• Follow all school and district policies, including safety and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with staff to support student learning and building-wide initiatives.
• Fill in for various grade levels and content areas with minimal advance notice.
