Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time position (5 days, 35 hours per week) reports to the Building Principal or Designee and pays $25.00 per hour with a TBD start date.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction according to lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom environment, supervising students across locations, and collaborating with staff to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as an approved substitute teacher through SubCentral.
• Must hold a valid substitute authorization or teaching license through the State of Iowa.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction and follow lesson plans.
• Maintain a respectful and safe learning environment and manage behavior.
• Supervise students across classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and events.
• Follow district safety policies and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with staff to support student learning and district initiatives.
• Fill in for multiple grade levels and content areas on short notice.
