Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Inc. is seeking a Dietitian to provide pediatric nutrition services within the hospital setting. You will participate as part of an interdisciplinary care team and deliver nutrition education aligned with the center’s mission and patient needs.

The role requires RD credential and Georgia licensure, with responsibilities including nutrition assessment, therapy planning, caregiver instruction, and intern supervision. A day shift on-site in Atlanta is expected.

Qualifications

• Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred but not required.
• Must hold RD credential; if not currently RD, must obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Georgia licensed dietitian.

Responsibilities

• Determines nutritional assessment using age-appropriate standards.
• Recommends medical nutritional therapy and evaluates response.
• Instructs patient and family on nutritional therapy and includes caregiver in care.
• Advises groups on pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as needed.
• Documents all work-related activities per department standards.
• Participates as a member of interdisciplinarity team.
• Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students.
• Maintains professional development responsibilities.
• Performs other responsibilities including committee work and competencies.

Job Description

Participates as interdisciplinary patient care team member to provide nutritional services and education to meet needs of identified patient population within the scope of the medical center’s mission and values.

Experience

• Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric populations

Education

• Dietitians credentialed prior to 12/31/23: Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
• Dietitians credentialed after 12/31/23: Master’s of Science or Public Health in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field

Certification Summary

• Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Georgia licensed dietitian
• If dietitian does not currently possess RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 3 months of hire

Job Responsibilities

• Recommends appropriate medical nutritional therapy for assigned patients and evaluates response to medical nutritional therapy and determines change.
• Instructs patient and family related to nutritional therapy which incorporates age-appropriate developmental standards. Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
• Advises groups related to pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required.
• Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary team.
• Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students.
• Maintains professional development responsibilities.
• Performs other responsibilities as required, including but not limited to departmental committee participation and annual competencies.
