Job Responsibilities

1. Serve meals to patients professionally, courteously, and efficiently, adhering to hospital regulatory requirements.
2. Instruct patients on the meal ordering system using established scripts.
3. Deliver correct, diet-compliant menus and related inserts to patients promptly.
4. Assist patients and/or family members with meal orders as needed.
5. Assess patients’ ability to use the meal ordering system and follow up with appropriate staff if unable to participate.
6. Deliver between-meal nourishments directly to patients and expedite diet substitutions as requested.
7. Inform nursing staff when diabetic trays arrive and are ready for delivery.
8. Adhere to infection control and isolation policies.
9. Retrieve completed meals, record nutrient intake for calorie counts, and maintain communication with relevant staff.
10. Enter meal orders into CBORD system.
11. Address patient concerns regarding meal service and ensure resolution.
12. Maintain quality assurance for the Room Service program.
13. Restock food and non-food items, check refrigerator temperatures, and keep kitchens organized and clean.
14. Record calorie counts and communicate with dietary staff.
15. Help load and transport food trucks for tray service as needed.
16. Ensure trays match diet orders and report potential issues.
17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational school graduate preferred; some college preferred.
• 3-5 years of food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills and initiative.
• Computer literacy with accuracy and speed, including learning new systems.
• Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Neat, professional appearance.
