Job Responsibilities
- Serve meals to patients professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
- Adhere to hospital regulatory requirements, including proper use of patient identifiers and hand hygiene practices.
- Instruct patients on the meal ordering system using established scripts.
- Deliver correct, diet-compliant menus and inserts to patients promptly.
- Assist patients and family members in placing meal orders as needed.
- Assess patients' ability to use the meal ordering system and follow up with appropriate staff if unable to participate.
- Deliver between-meal nourishments directly to patients.
- Handle diet requests and substitutes, especially for diabetic patients, and notify nursing of tray delivery.
- Follow infection control and isolation policies.
- Retrieve completed meals, record nutrient intake, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Work efficiently under pressure, demonstrating speed and accuracy.
- Act as liaison among Nutrition and Food Service, patients, and nursing staff.
- Enter meal orders into CBORD system.
- Address patient concerns regarding meal service and ensure resolution.
- Maintain quality assurance for the Room Service program.
- Communicate effectively with Call Center and nursing staff about patient food requirements.
- Complete nourishment kitchen stock sheets, restock supplies, and monitor refrigerator temperatures.
- Ensure nourishment kitchens are clean and organized.
- Record calorie counts and communicate with Dietary Call Center.
- Assist in loading and transporting food trucks as needed.
- Verify that patient trays match diet orders and address potential issues promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school or vocational school graduate preferred; some college preferred.
- 3-5 years of food service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow instructions.
- Excellent customer service and initiative.
- Team-oriented attitude with flexibility and strong work ethic.
- Proficient in computer use, with speed and accuracy, and ability to learn new systems.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Neat, professional appearance.
