Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Serve meals to patients professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
2. Adhere to hospital regulatory requirements, including proper use of patient identifiers and hand hygiene practices.
3. Instruct patients on the meal ordering system using established scripts.
4. Deliver correct, diet-compliant menus and inserts to patients promptly.
5. Assist patients and family members in placing meal orders as needed.
6. Assess patients' ability to use the meal ordering system and follow up with appropriate staff if unable to participate.
7. Deliver between-meal nourishments directly to patients.
8. Handle diet requests and substitutes, especially for diabetic patients, and notify nursing of tray delivery.
9. Follow infection control and isolation policies.
10. Retrieve completed meals, record nutrient intake, and ensure accurate documentation.
11. Work efficiently under pressure, demonstrating speed and accuracy.
12. Act as liaison among Nutrition and Food Service, patients, and nursing staff.
13. Enter meal orders into CBORD system.
14. Address patient concerns regarding meal service and ensure resolution.
15. Maintain quality assurance for the Room Service program.
16. Communicate effectively with Call Center and nursing staff about patient food requirements.
17. Complete nourishment kitchen stock sheets, restock supplies, and monitor refrigerator temperatures.
18. Ensure nourishment kitchens are clean and organized.
19. Record calorie counts and communicate with Dietary Call Center.
20. Assist in loading and transporting food trucks as needed.
21. Verify that patient trays match diet orders and address potential issues promptly.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational school graduate preferred; some college preferred.
• 3-5 years of food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow instructions.
• Excellent customer service and initiative.
• Team-oriented attitude with flexibility and strong work ethic.
• Proficient in computer use, with speed and accuracy, and ability to learn new systems.
• Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Neat, professional appearance.
