Job Responsibilities
- Serve meals to patients professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
- Adhere to hospital regulatory requirements, including proper use of patient identifiers and hand hygiene practices.
- Instruct patients on the meal ordering system using established scripts.
- Deliver correct, diet-compliant menus and inserts to patients promptly.
- Assist patients and family members with meal orders as needed, assessing their ability to use the system and following up with staff if unable.
- Deliver between-meal nourishment directly to patients and expedite diet substitutions upon request.
- Notify nursing staff when trays arrive for diabetic patients and deliver accordingly.
- Follow infection control and isolation policies.
- Retrieve completed meals, record nutrient intake, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Act as a liaison between Nutrition and Food Service, patients, and nursing units.
- Enter meal orders into CBORD system and address patient concerns about meal service.
- Maintain quality assurance for the Room Service program and communicate with Call Center staff.
- Complete nourishment kitchen stock sheets, restock items, and monitor refrigerator temperatures.
- Keep nourishment kitchens clean and organized, and record calorie counts.
- Assist with loading food trucks for patient tray service as needed.
- Ensure tray accuracy according to diet orders, identify issues, and inform staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school or vocational school graduate preferred; some college preferred.
- 3-5 years food service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with good time management.
- Excellent customer service skills with initiative and ownership.
- Team-oriented attitude with flexibility and strong work ethic.
- Computer literacy with accuracy and ability to learn new systems.
- Organizational skills for multi-tasking and maintaining service standards.
- Neat, professional appearance.
