Job summary

Entiat School District is seeking an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf to support communication in classrooms and school activities. This 40 hours/week, school-year position reports to the Special Education Teacher.

The role interprets between hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing students, staff, and families; participates in IEP meetings and conferences; and assists in developing language and academic skills for students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Pass EIPA with minimum score 4.0 and EIPA written test; OR RID certification with EIPA written test.

Responsibilities

• Interpret lectures, discussions, tests, films, assemblies in school settings.
• Interpret communications between hearing, deaf and hard of hearing students, parents and staff.
• Assist certificated and classified staff to implement programs for students with hearing impairments.
• Work with teachers to develop language and academic skills within school and home environments.
• Supervise students.
• Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.
• Maintain regular attendance to perform duties.
