Job summary

Hardin County Schools seeks a dedicated Educational Interpreter I to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students across district classrooms, labs, field trips, and events. This full-time role covers 187 days per school year, seven hours per day, with immediate starting date.

The interpreter will facilitate communication between students, faculty, and staff, ensuring access to instructional content. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in educational interpreting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; experience interpreting in an educational setting preferred.
• Some experience interpreting in educational settings or with the deaf community preferred.
• Graduation from an Interpreter Training Program may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Attend and interpret in classrooms, labs, field trips, assemblies and events.
• Enable deaf and hard of hearing students to communicate with staff and peers.
• Meet with teachers and staff to plan and support instruction.
• Prepare for challenging course material for accurate interpreting/ transliterating.
• Participate in ARC processes and other duties as assigned.
