Job summary

Diocese of Greensburg is seeking a skilled Full-Time Cook to join our team. The role covers the full range of food service operations, from preparation to serving and proper storage of meals and beverages, while maintaining high safety and cleanliness standards.

The Cook will assist with food preparation and meal service at the Christ Our Shepherd Center and support meals and events throughout the Diocese. The position is full-time, non-exempt, with around 40 hours per week and schedule

Qualifications

  • Two years of institutional cooking experience or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and kitchen safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; works well independently and in a team.
  • Professional, dependable and service-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, cook and serve meals with consistent quality and presentation.
  • Assist with food purchasing, inventory, storage and organization.
  • Follow established food safety, sanitation and health standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized kitchen and dining area.
  • Operate, clean and care for kitchen equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with meal prep and service for special events.
  • Support food service operations at designated centers as needed.
  • Work with staff to ensure efficient and professional service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Diocese of Greensburg is seeking a talented, dependable, and service-oriented Full-Time Cook to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced culinary professional who takes pride in preparing quality meals, maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness, and creating a welcoming dining experience for those we serve.

Position Overview

The Cook is responsible for the full range of food service operations, including the preparation, cooking, serving, and proper storage of food and beverages. The Cook will also ensure the cleanliness, organization, and proper care of kitchen and dining facilities, equipment, and supplies.

In addition, the Cook will assist with food preparation and meal service at the Christ Our Shepherd Center, as directed, and will play an important role in supporting meals and special events throughout the Diocese.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, cook, and serve meals while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
  • Assist with food and beverage purchasing, inventory, storage, and organization.
  • Follow established food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining environment.
  • Properly operate, clean, and care for kitchen equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with meal preparation and service for special events and occasions.
  • Support food service operations at the Christ Our Shepherd Center as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure efficient and professional food service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in institutional cooking or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.The ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • A professional, dependable, and service-oriented approach.
Position Details

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The standard work schedule will generally consist of 40 hours per week, with daily hours varying based on operational needs. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for special events and occasions; advance notice will be provided whenever possible.
