Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Grocery Department Manager to lead the Grocery Team at our Wilson, NC location. Implement staffing, training and development while driving sales and budget goals. Promote customer service excellence and maintain store standards.

You will oversee scheduling, performance reviews, safety compliance and daily operations to ensure a positive shopping experience and strong results for the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Strong understanding of store operations preferred.
• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• Certified Food Safety Manager or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to perform required duties including lifting and standing.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training and developing staff.
• Provide ongoing performance management and appraisals.
• Manage daily labor and coaching for productivity.
• Lead store culture aligning with guiding principles and strategy.
• Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Provide friendly customer service and create positive shopping experience.
• Use department knowledge to meet customer needs.
• Control expenses through ordering and care for supplies.
• Utilize company tools and reports for inventory, scheduling, and CAO.
• Ensure department appearance, safety, sanitation and quality.
• Schedule to provide extraordinary customer service.
• Understand scheduling, sales, wage percent, interviewing, training, etc.
• Ensure correct ordering, receiving, and merchandising per policy.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions.
• Record and report accidents per procedures.
• Monitor shrink and coach to prevent losses.
• Assist with physical inventory bi-annually.
• Ensure ads/promotions signage used.
• Comply with local/state/federal regulations.
• Adhere to guidelines and maintain security.
• Complete CBT and training courses.
• Recognize accomplishments and provide counseling to improve service and sales.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
