Job summary

Durwood Greene is a leading paving contractor in Eastern Texas, seeking an Asphalt Heavy Equipment Operator to support the crew foreman with asphalt paving machines. You will be expected to operate equipment, maintain safety, and assist with prep and traffic control on municipal, commercial, and civil projects.

The ideal candidate has 2-3 years in asphalt, 1-2 years operating paving equipment, and a team-oriented, safety-minded mindset.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years' experience within the asphalt industry.
• 1-2 years' experience of operating paving equipment.
• Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to run, maneuver, and utilize the equipment.
• Inspects equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
• Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times.
• Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
• May be called upon to run power tools.
• Must demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices as needed.
