Job summary

Durwood Greene Construction in Texas is seeking a Common Laborer to join the paving crew. The role supports foremen and superintendents by performing physical asphalt-related tasks in diverse outdoor settings and weather conditions.

The successful candidate will shovel and rake, assist with patching and prep work, operate small tools if needed, and help with traffic control devices. Emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliability to meet project standards is essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year (or under) experience
• Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset
• Must be positive, friendly, and professional
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture
• Work in a safe, responsible manner to not injure oneself or others
• Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas
• Collaborate with project teams on other initiatives as required

Responsibilities

• General laborer duties on asphalt paving, patching or prep crews
• Shovel, rake and handle other small tools
• Equipment cleanup as needed
• May operate small power tools
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials
• Assist in placement, movement and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices
• Perform other duties as assigned
