Job summary
PowerSchool is seeking a Software Engineer to join a full-stack team that designs, develops, and maintains products, tools, and infrastructure. You will translate product needs into actionable tasks, participate in code reviews, and collaborate across teams while coding with AI support.
The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience, proficiency in modern languages or functional programming, and comfort with full-stack work including CSS/JS and DevOps tasks.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience
- Experience with functional programming (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, F#, etc.) or modern statically typed languages (Rust, Go, Zig, etc.)
- Experience with PostgreSQL profiling and optimization in production environments
- Comfortable in a Full-Stack environment (CSS/JS, Backend, and occasional DevOps/Monitoring)
- Familiarity with self-directed Agentic Development
Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements into discrete, testable tasks
- Participate in code reviews across teams
- Develop code and tasks with AI tools
- Question processes critically and look for improvement
- Advocate for quality by calling out unclear or unsound code/tests
- Collaborate on shared tools and processes
- Investigate Production or data issues as needed
