Job summary

PowerSchool is hiring for a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain customer-facing web features using React, TypeScript, and modern patterns within a micro-frontend architecture.

You will leverage AI coding agents for implementation, refactors, and test authoring, while writing automated tests and building backend APIs to power core product functionality. Collaboration across Product, QA, and teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year or less of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 5-10% for team events at peak periods.
• Company on-call policies which may require working outside normal hours.
• Experience using AI coding assistants/agents in professional software development workflows.
• Proficiency in full-stack development including Java and modern JS/TS frameworks.
• Experience with Git-based version control and PR workflows.
• Knowledge of automated testing practices (unit and BDD).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features for customer-facing web apps using React, TS, and micro-frontend patterns.
• Use AI coding agents as a first-line collaborator for implementation, refactors, test authoring, and PR generation.
• Write and maintain automated test suites for unit and behavior-driven tests.
• Build and consume backend APIs powering core product functionality and integrations.
• Collaborate across Product, QA, and engineering teams to translate requirements into working features.
• Debug production and non-production issues across the full stack, front-end to backend.
• Participate in code reviews and leverage AI-assisted tooling to uphold standards.
• Improve engineering velocity by refining AI-agentic workflows in daily development.
