Job summary

Peraton is seeking a software engineer to develop backend services in Python, with PostgreSQL design and microservices security using OAuth 2.0 and JWT. The role includes frontend work in TypeScript and collaboration in Agile sprints, code reviews, and production support.

The ideal candidate has strong Python, PostgreSQL, and container orchestration skills, plus Git-based workflows, RBAC/ABAC access controls, and a TS frontend background.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of experience; or Bachelor's with 5+ years; or Master's with 3+ years. 4 years may substitute for a degree.
• This role requires Top-Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and maintenance of clearance.
• Proficient in Python for backend applications.
• Experience with PostgreSQL design and development (SQL queries, triggers, functions).
• Hands-on with microservices and security (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Frontend experience using TypeScript and modern UI frameworks.
• Git-based source control (GitHub/GitLab).
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum and software development practices.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Python, including APIs and automation logic.
• Build and maintain PostgreSQL database structures (queries, triggers, functions).
• Implement microservices and security (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Contribute to frontend development using TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Participate in Agile software development: sprint planning and code reviews.
• Support production issue investigations with structured troubleshooting.
• Use Git-based version control and collaborate on code reviews.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm to support containerized deployment.
