Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Corps Accountant to perform full-charge bookkeeping for several centers of operation within the Corps Accounting center. You will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.

You will handle revenue processing, accounts payable, journal entries, monthly closings, bank reconciliations, and budget analyses while coordinating with Corps Officers and Divisional HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in accounting.
• 1–2 years related accounting experience and training.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting is a plus.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity in handling financial data.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-charge bookkeeping for multiple centers within the Corps Accounting center.
• Prepare journal entries for cash, payroll, reserve and subsidiary ledger accounting.
• Complete monthly closings and prepare reports for review by Accounting Manager.
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and adjust as needed.
• Analyze ledgers and reports for Corps Officers and Divisional HQ.
• Prepare management reports and analyze balance sheet accounts and variances.
• Coordinate audit schedules and assist with audit preparation.
• Enter budget information and support Corps Officers with special analyses.
