Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is assisting a growing owner-led retail business in Secaucus, NJ to hire its first internal Full-Charge Bookkeeper. This role will independently own the day-to-day accounting function and collaborate with ownership and an outside CPA.

The ideal candidate has deep bookkeeping experience, exceptional QuickBooks skills (Desktop and Online preferred), and the ability to manage a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a lean small-business environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong full-charge bookkeeping background across AP, AR, GL, payroll, sales tax, cash management, and month-end close.
• Excellent QuickBooks experience is required.
• Experience with both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred.
• QuickBooks migration, cleanup, or system-conversion experience is highly desirable.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, vendor payments, and cash receipts.
• Process ACH payments, wires, and other disbursements.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Review POS sales, cash-outs, deposits, and discrepancies.
• Reconcile and monitor POS-to-QuickBooks data transfers.
• Support purchase orders, receiving, inventory counts, and inventory analysis.
• Process biweekly payroll through QuickBooks.
• Prepare and submit monthly sales tax filings and payments.
• Prepare month-end close entries and supporting schedules.
• Perform variance analysis and prepare reporting packages for the outside CPA.

Salary: $30–$33 per hour | $75,000–$80,000 upon conversion
