Job summary

Faber-Castell USA in Independence, Ohio seeks a hands-on Distribution Manager to lead outbound order fulfillment and shipping operations at our distribution center. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will oversee Transportation and lead two senior teams while driving customer service, productivity and cost control.

You will coach teams, optimize labor, schedule shipments, and ensure compliance with routing guides and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible warehouse or distribution leadership.
• Experience serving major national retailers or big-box customers with routing and shipping requirements.
• Hands-on truckload/LTL and small-parcel fulfillment, labor planning and capacity management.
• Experience managing labor costs, overtime and staffing plans with agencies.
• Proficiency with ERP/WMS, RF workflows and operating reports.
• Strong Excel skills to create and interpret shipping and capacity reports.
• A track record of process improvement, change leadership and sustained results.
• Ability to build cross-department relationships and support peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily outbound fulfillment across truckload, LTL, small-parcel and direct-to-consumer channels.
• Set priorities, coach and develop employees, and conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with Sales, Sales Operations and Transportation to prioritize orders and schedules.
• Ensure routing guides, labeling, shipment docs and chargeback actions are compliant.
• Use metrics like on-time shipping and backlog to drive improvements.
• Forecast shipping capacity and staffing two months ahead and adjust for demand.
• Manage temporary staffing and onboarding, balancing service and cost.
• Evaluate workflows and apply root-cause analysis to recurring problems.
• Advance ERP/WMS adoption and partner with IT/Finance on automation initiatives.
• Work with 3PLs to assess carrier service, freight costs and optimization opportunities.
• Maintain a safe, organized workplace and manage approvals per policy.
