Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist in our Madison, WI area. You will help deter theft, protect guests and team members, and maintain a safe shopping environment across the store.

We offer training and opportunities to develop skills in crisis response, surveillance, and incident documentation. The role requires strong service mindset, teamwork, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage guests and team members at the front of store.
• Maintain safe and secure standards store-wide and at exterior property.
• Respond to and document security incidents.
• Use escalation tools to address guest issues safely.
• Recover merchandise and provide apprehension support per AP policy.
• Prevent theft by checks on high-dollar merchandise.
• Document incidents in the system per AP policy.
• Operate Target's video system.
• Demonstrate safe working practices and keep store clean.
• Provide service and a shopping experience meeting guest needs.
• Demonstrate ethics, safety and compliance.
• Identify hazards and follow safety policies.
