Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Patient Access Associate I for the 24/7 Emergency Department. This on-site clerical role works closely with clinical teams to identify patients, verify demographics and insurance, and assist with admissions and consent processes.

You will support visitors and families and navigate electronic systems in a fast-paced environment. The position offers coverage for open shifts with hours that vary weekly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Related healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
• Computer and data entry experience with Microsoft Word, e-mail, and internet communication.
• Ability to work accurately with electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact in the Emergency Department for patient identification, arrival, and armband application.
• Provide customer service and support for visitors and families.
• Capture demographics and verify insurance; obtain signatures for consent; complete admissions.
