Job summary

Citi is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead AI-driven design and implementation, partnering with business process owners to reimagine core workflows. You will prototype solutions, translate requirements, and drive adoption of reference AI capabilities across Citi's operations.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on ML experience, strong communication, and a passion for scalable, business-focused AI. Hybrid in-office/remote work supports collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years in a hands-on technical role such as software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering.
• Deep, hands-on experience with LLMs and AI agents as well as core ML concepts (supervised and unsupervised), NLP, and data modeling.
• Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze processes, workflows, and pain points; identify where AI can have maximum impact.
• Design and prototype AI-powered solutions; develop POCs and MVPs to demonstrate feasibility and value.
• Bridge communication gaps between non-technical users and core engineering teams.
• Stay current with AI landscape, tools, techniques, and best practices in ML and NLP.
• Define KPIs to measure ROI of AI initiatives.
• Create documentation for new AI-driven processes and provide training to business users.
