Job summary

Compass is seeking a Software Engineer II in Seattle to help drive the Transaction Journey platform, focusing on frontend development for forms and eSign products. You will collaborate with product and design teams to deliver intuitive experiences for real estate agents and clients.

You will contribute to scalable, well-tested frontend systems, participate in agile processes, and grow with a team that values thoughtful design and user-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of software engineering experience developing well-tested, high-performance applications.
• 2+ years of experience with Typescript, Javascript, and HTML/CSS.
• 2+ years of experience with React and NodeJS.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and implementation trade-offs.
• A strong eye for design and user-centric solutions that look good and are easy to use.
• Experience with software testing best practices using Cypress and Jest.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently on straightforward problems and seek guidance when needed.
• Practical experience or strong interest in AI-assisted development tools (ClaudeCode / GitHub Copilot).
• Nice to have: backend experience with Java, Golang, or Python.
• Nice to have: familiarity with AWS/cloud technologies, Kafka, and modern CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop core Frontend components: build UI elements in React across Forms and eSign products.
• Drive Quality and Testing: write high-quality, maintainable code with tests to prevent regressions.
• Enhance Operational Excellence: improve metrics, monitoring, and on-call reliability for the platform.
• Deliver Features End-to-End: independently deliver small to mid-sized components and collaborate on complex designs.
• Act as a Component SME: become a go-to expert for internal components/tools.
• Collaborate in Agile Workflows: contribute to code reviews, planning, and design discussions.
