Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager for Colorado projects along the Front Range. The role leads multidisciplinary teams on CDOT drainage and stormwater projects, mentoring staff and building relationships with municipalities and counties.

You will oversee planning through construction support, ensure compliance with local criteria, and develop practical, approvable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Colorado PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 7+ years of drainage engineering experience.
• 2+ years of design oversight and mentoring staff.
• Experience with CDOT drainage design for transportation projects.
• Familiarity with CDOT, Mile High Flood District, and Denver-area local agency requirements.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer production and Open Roads Drainage & Utilities modeling.
• Experience with HEC-RAS 1D/2D and HEC-HMS.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for reports and presentations.
• Ability to lead and train junior engineering staff and build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage CDOT drainage reports, hydrologic analyses, and PS&E drainage design for transportation projects.
• Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate with disciplines and subconsultants to define project scope and fee.
• Develop project plans and PM/quality management plans.
• Create and maintain project schedules.
• Manage subconsultants and project progress; identify risks.
• Communicate status to stakeholders and leadership.
• Support marketing efforts with proposals and interviews.
• Guide technical resources to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Mentor and coach project team members for growth.
