Job summary

Harmons Grocery is seeking a front end associate to ensure smooth operation and exceptional service at the checkout and front end. You will train and mentor front end staff, assist with checking and bagging, and handle refunds, exchanges, and customer inquiries.

You will promote the Foodie Club Card to every customer, monitor tills, and maintain pricing accuracy while ensuring coverage and compliance with store policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Basic math skills for making change and 10-key skills.
• Ability to interpret store policies and procedures.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Strong communication skills with customers and teammates.
• Ability to handle conflicts professionally.
• Ability to take constructive feedback and be accountable for team success.

Responsibilities

• Follows store policies and procedures.
• Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of front end areas.
• Stocks check stands with bags and supplies.
• Assigns check stands to scheduled associates.
• Ensures breaks and coverage for front end associates.
• Operates opening and closing procedures.
• Performs overrides as needed.
• Assists with checking and bagging as needed.
• Promotes Foodie Club Card to customers and uses appropriate wording.
• Ensures front end staff consistently promotes the card.
• Ensures checkers and courtesy clerks follow procedures and deliver excellent service.
• Handles refunds and exchanges for customers.
• Audits tills and ensures balanced cash at close.
• Handles customer complaints.
• Assists customers with questions and locating items.
• Ensures go-backs are completed.
• Ensures pricing accuracy on scanned items.
• Handles money and provides accurate change.
• Delivers exceptional customer service.
• Adheres to Harmons policies for checks, gift cards, and WIC.
• Teaches and mentors front end associates for team success.
• Provides honest feedback on performance and improvement areas.
• Supports store-wide success as needed.
