Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A Cashier is responsible for providing service that exceeds customer expectations by performing duties such as:

• Accurately recording prices and collecting payments.
• Balancing the cash drawer accurately.
• Following correct procedures for voids, returns, exchanges, and transfers.
• Handling cash, checks, or card payments and making change when needed.
• Verifying identification for checks and credit card purchases.
• Complying with liquor and tobacco laws, including ID verification.

Customer Service Skills

Cashiers should provide exceptional customer service, following policies that go beyond basic greetings. They should have a positive attitude, treat others with respect, and adapt easily to workplace changes.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Demands

Cashiers must stand for long periods, walk, reach, bend, and frequently use their wrists and hands. They may need to lift up to 50 pounds and should have effective communication skills. Visual acuity for close and color vision is necessary.
