Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a full-time security guard to monitor building access, issue client IDs, and oversee the premises with a digital camera system. The role includes responding to emergencies, guiding clients to needed services, and maintaining safety through de-escalation when necessary.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid security guard license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with MICA/homeless population preferred.
• Security guard license required.
• Bilingual preferred.
• NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification and CPR Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to the building entrance.
• Create client identification cards.
• Monitor site activity through the digital camera system.
• Provide emergency response and crisis intervention as necessary.
• Meet and greet individuals entering the premises and direct them to the appropriate services.
• De-escalate situations when individuals are frustrated or angry.
• Serve as primary contact for emergency responders (fire department, EMS).
• Related duties as assigned.
