Job summary

Community Against Violence (CAV) is seeking a front desk/first point of contact to greet visitors, answer calls, and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff. The role supports shelter operations, provides resource navigation, and helps maintain a welcoming environment for clients and community members.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, 18+ years old, and crisis-intervention training (40 hours) with ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus relevant human services experience.
  • Must be 18+, have 40 hours crisis intervention training, and 10 hours annual training.
  • Spanish and English bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct clients to staff.
  • Create a welcoming, safe environment for all guests.
  • Answer the HELPline 8am–5pm, Monday–Friday, and direct calls to staff.
  • Provide resources and referrals to clients and community.
  • Handle clerical tasks and correspondence as directed.
  • Support volunteers and staff on front desk procedures.
  • Coordinate with Advocates and staff to keep materials stocked and accessible.
  • Maintain security alarm system and update schedules as needed.
  • Participate in agency events and trainings.
