Job summary

Valparaiso Family YMCA is seeking a part-time Member Access Control to greet members and manage facility access. The role supports the Membership team and emphasizes safety, customer service, and adherence to YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include monitoring entrances, directing staff for issues, notifying maintenance, giving building tours, and following emergency procedures. Benefits include a free Y membership and discounted family memberships.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to stay focused at a desk for long periods of time.
• CPR and First Aid training within the first 45 days (training provided on site).

Responsibilities

• Greet all persons entering facility.
• Control facility access by members and guests while following department procedures.
• Advise members of access system alerts and direct appropriate staff for further assistance.
• Continuously monitor entrances and access control areas and take action to assure the safety of children under the age of 10 who may be exited or in the facility unaccompanied by an adult.
• Notify Property department staff of deliveries and maintenance issues.
• Contact assigned staff to provide building tours.
• Adhere to work schedule and substitute for others when needed.
• Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
