Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners in Austin, TX is seeking a seasonal front desk clerk to perform routine clerical and administrative work, greet patients, answer phones, process data, and maintain patient records.

This on-site role requires proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, plus strong communication, organization, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate has 1+ year of front desk experience in retail or clinical settings and a solid understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of retail or clinical front desk experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state/federal regulations; HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Answers central telephone system and directs calls.
  • Receives the public, answers questions, and refers to appropriate staff.
  • Performs data processing and maintains patient records.
  • Operates office machines and computers to process patients correctly.
  • Duplicates/distributes materials and composes/edit correspondence as needed.
  • Assists patients with use of clinic facilities and services.
  • Adheres to safety policies, supporting high-quality customer service.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)

The front desk clerk performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, and record-keeping.

SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)
  • Maintains office procedures and assists with administrative tasks.
  • Answers central telephone system and directs calls accordingly.
  • Receives the public and answers questions, in person and by telephone; responds to inquiries from employees, patients and others and refers, when necessary, to the appropriate manager, co-worker, healthcare giver, or department.
  • Operates office machines and computers as required to ensure patients are processed correctly and effectively.
  • Duplicates and distributes materials as necessary.
  • Composes, types and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material.
  • Assists patients with the use of the practice / clinic facilities or services.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
QualificationsSECTION 3: Experience Requirements
  • One (1)+ year of retail or clinical front desk experience, preferred

  • Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations

  • Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
  • Basic to intermediate computer operation

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
