Job summary

The Armstrong Company is seeking Freight Sales Agents who operate as true entrepreneurs, offering a 70/30 revenue split, remote/field-based work, and no territory caps. This is a contract (1099), commission-based role designed for individuals who run a small team (1–5) and want autonomy, growth, and a supportive partnership.

Responsibilities include winning and growing shipper accounts, managing pricing strategies, and leading a small team to hit margin targets while maintaining relationships

Qualifications

• 1+ years direct sales experience required.
• Proven success as a freight agent or brokerage sales professional.
• Existing book of business and strong shipper relationships.
• Ability to operate independently with a small team (1–5) and deliver results.
• Strong knowledge of brokerage workflows, quoting, and margin management.
• Excellent communication and phone presence; proactive listener.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and time management.
• Prior experience with CRM is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Win and grow shipper accounts across FTL/LTL/intermodal/expedited as applicable.
• Own customer relationships, pricing strategies, and day-to-day book management.
• Lead and coach a 1–5 person team to hit margin and growth targets.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategy, capacity, and expansion opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline; convert prospects to clients.
• Retain and grow existing client base; maintain CRM records.
• Exceed activity, territory coverage, discovery calls, and revenue KPIs.
