Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is recruiting for a Conductor at Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad in Carthage, MO. You'll receive classroom and on-the-job training, work outdoors in all weather, and help move freight safely to customers.

This full-time role offers growth opportunities in a dynamic, safety-driven environment. Expect 40+ hours weekly, nights and weekends as needed, plus benefits including life insurance, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related or relevant work experience is a plus.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment is a plus.
• Situational awareness and good decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety and operational regulations.
• Communicate with team using signals, lantern signals or radio.
• Operate track switches to determine train or rail equipment routes.
• Evaluate, plan and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Climb on/off equipment and walk the length of the train or rail yard.
• Apply or release hand brakes to control movement.
• Read and understand rule books and other materials.
• Inspect train and equipment for safety compliance.
• Connect air hoses and electrical components between locomotives or railcars.
• Utilize basic computer skills for electronic reporting and train documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
