Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Conductor in Valdosta, GA. This full-time role involves moving freight safely, with classroom and hands-on training to build a long-term career. You will work outdoors in all weather, facing daily challenges while meeting customer needs and pursuing growth opportunities.

The position offers paid training, strong safety focus, and opportunities across our network of railroads. A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years of related work experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all railroad safety and operating regulations.
• Follow instructions when working with a trainer, mentor, or supervisor.
• Communicate with team using oral, written, hand signals, lantern signals or radio to coordinate train movements.
• Operate track switches to determine train/railcar routing.
• Evaluate, plan and complete assigned work safely and efficiently.
• Climb on/off equipment and walk the length of the train or yard.
• Read and understand rule books and related materials.
• Inspect train and equipment for safety while moving and stationary.
• Connect air hoses and electrical components between locomotives or railcars.
• Use basic computer skills for electronic reporting and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
