David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks a Freight Rail Client Team Leader / Senior Project Manager to lead rail projects across multiple Northwest and Western US locations, including remote work options.

The role focuses on strategic market development, client management, and project leadership to deliver safe, sustainable transportation solutions. The successful candidate will bring a PE license, 10+ years in civil engineering with freight rail experience, and strong communication and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years’ experience in civil engineering design with freight rail focus.
• Experience in railroad engineering and familiarity with design guidelines and criteria.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Occasional travel for client visits and project work.
• Experience delivering projects for major rail operators (UPRR, BNSF, CPKC, NS).
• Proven track record in winning and delivering transportation projects.
• Committed to employee-owned culture.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and communication tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Market Development: identify and evaluate new market opportunities and pursue clients and projects.
• Business Development: manage full lifecycle client relationships and cross-unit selling.
• Client Management: maintain high client satisfaction and lead contract negotiations.
• Project Management: act as principal-in-charge or PM, manage risks and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Leadership and Mentoring: guide junior engineers and PMs for professional growth.
• Team and Resource Leadership: oversee staffing, go/no-go decisions, and revenue forecasting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
